Overview
The Undergraduate Mathematics Program at Parahyangan Catholic University was established in 1993 and has achieved an “A” accreditation from BAN-PT in 2005, an “Unggul” accreditation from BAN-PT in 2021, and an “Unggul” accreditation from LAMSAMA in 2025. Its curriculum is designed to equip students with six 21st-century skills —communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, computational thinking, and compassion— while offering four specializations: Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Optimization and Dynamics, as well as Pure and Educational Mathematics. In the Actuarial Science specialization, the Undergraduate Mathematics Program is the first and only programme at a private university to offer course equivalences with ASAI-level examination modules from the Society of Actuaries of Indonesia (PAI). In addition, in the Data Analytics specialization, the programme offers access to international certifications in data-related fields through its collaboration with Cybertrend Data Academy.
Learning activities in the Mathematics Programme are supported by modern facilities such as the Computational Laboratory and the Modeling and Simulation Laboratory, as well as policies related to MBKM that provide opportunities for students to gain off-campus experiences. Through the Center for Mathematics and Society, lecturers and students are actively engaged in research, community service, and a variety of regular activities beyond lectures, such as Thesis Day and guest lectures. In particular, the UNPAR Mathematics Competition is the programme’s largest annual event, organized in collaboration with the Mathematics Student Union.
Specialization Program
- Actuarial Science: Graduates of the Actuarial Science specialization gain expertise in mathematics, probability, statistics, economics, and finance, along with computing and data-analysis skills for quantitative risk measurement and management. Career paths include actuary, financial-risk manager, pension-scheme designer and administrator, actuarial consultant, or risk-management policymaker.
- Data Analytics: The Data Analytics specialization trains graduates in data modeling, visualization, and engineering, applying these skills in various industrial fields. Career paths include data analyst.
- Optimization and Dynamics: Graduates of the Optimization and Dynamics specialization master mathematical and statistical techniques for solving problems in industry, healthcare, and finance, such as production optimization, epidemic modeling, and financial decision-making. Careers include operations-research analyst, quality-control analyst, health-data analyst, financial analyst, or general industry professional.
- Pure and Educational Mathematics: The Pure and Educational Mathematics specialization provides a strong foundation in theoretical mathematics and pedagogical methods. Graduates may pursue careers as academicians or researchers.
